Best Time for Weight Training

Any form of exercise is vital for a healthy body and a sound mind. I often get asked what the best time to train is. Well the answer I provide is anytime! Even though people always ask this question they aren’t ready to hear the truth. Before I get into the nitty-gritty’s  of best time to train, I want to emphasize that training itself should be the primary goal and then once you are consistent at it then comes the question of how do I better it. First and foremost train and train Consistent, which should be your ethos.

Weight training or any other form of rigors training affects central nervous system activity and hormonal production. Our body runs in a rhythm called as Circadian rhythm, which is a 24 hour cycle which controls our physiological process like sleep, hormones, metabolism and wake up pattern. The trick is to figure out when it’s at its peak and when it’s at the lowest, sounds simple? Well it isn’t.



Before it gets too complicated and too scientific let me tell you best time for weight training based on my 15 years of weight training experience. I have found and peaked while training between 9 am to 11.30 am in the morning and 5 pm to 8 pm in the evening. Despite these times being the best to peak and perform weight training your body can be tricked and trained to yield good results at different times as well. That’s something I will cover in my future articles on weight training. If you are novice I suggest you train at your convenience at first but be consistent and try to train in the evening as you may drain out energy if your train in the morning and then pursue the daily rigors of life.

It’s important never to give up win or lose doesn’t matter he has the heart of champion. He is very famous for training just 4- 6 months and getting back in competition shape but none the less he has incredible physique for his age.



Kevin levrone is someone who has had 4 times finished in second position on the Mr. Olympia stage and was an amazing blend of aesthetics and mass. He ruled the stage in the 90’s along with Shawn ray, Flex wheeler and Ronnie Coleman.

Road to Mr. Olympia 2016 : Kevin levrone Vs Dexter Jackson

Kevin levrone Vs Dexter Jackson who do you think will place better in Mr. Olympia 2016? Road to Mr. Olympia 2016 is getting exciting every minute. Dexter only defeated Kevin twice in his career and Kevin had a triceps injury at the time. Dexter Jackson is getting better and has being training for a longtime compared to Kevin who has been not training for 10 years or so. Kevin always trained 3 months before the show and then would literally stop lifting. Even Dexter has been performing great and winning shows I believe it’s the year of Maryland muscle machine.



Win or lose Kevin levrone has inspired many and has paved way for the great physiques of 90’s to show they were the best. No more bubble gut no more huge physiques but pure aesthetic physique, Kevin being at the age he is at that’s 52 has done a amazing job and lived up to the expectations of fans from all over the world. He was always known to grow into the show which he is doing and he is able to do in 3 weeks what others take 6 months. Phil and other competitor have their hands full this time. Reverse grip bench press To Spice Up Your chest Workout

Reverse grip bench press is excellent variation that one can add to spice up their chest routine. Form is very important on this exercise and if done carelessly then can hurt your elbows and wrist. Form is important not the weight. Go for higher reps on this exercise and moderate weights once you advance then shoot for heavier weights.



Versatility of the Smith machine allows many variations of the same movement with just a slight change in grip. I strongly encourage you to utilize that benefit to its fullest. From one workout to the next alter your grip on your presses from the standard overhand grip to the reverse-grip version. See how it makes your chest feel. Also be sure to include the standard bench press, as well as dumbbells, cables and machines to complement your chest training. Don’t get stuck doing the same moves each week.

Steroids use during golden days of bodybuilding, Like it or not steroids has been a big part of bodybuilding culture, but steroid use was nothing in 60’s and 70’s compared to today. 60’s and 70’s produced classic physiques like John Grimek, Steve Reeves, Clancy Ross and George Eiferman who embodied not only ascetic bodies but were also very strong men. They did more of compound exercises and weight lifting routines in their workout program and less or no steroids compared to today’s standard. Here is video where i discuss about it in detail.



The 70’s was the peak of bodybuilding with greats like Bill Pearl, Larry Scott, Dave Draper, Reg Park, Sergio Oliva, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, Frank Zane, Franco Columbu and Ken Waller and many more. Each one of them had unique physique and had their own trade mark when it came to standing out on a competition stage. Even though it was the Austrian Oak who put bodybuilding on the map through his awesome personality and extraordinary achievements, each one of these other legends have contributed and paved way for bodybuilding to be in the mainstream. The era was more of hard work and toil in the gym to create these awesome physiques rather than become chemical infected bloated bodies.

Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski Who Will Win ?

Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski is a fight to watch out for and it will be an exciting fight. Ufc has always made some great match ups and this fight is one of them. UFC fight night Rotterdam is an exciting card and has some great matches but none can be as exciting as Alistair Overeem vs. Andrei Arlovski.


 Let’s look at what makes this fight so interesting? Firstly it’s between two explosive fighters and second of all these two fighters are from the same gym. The Reem or demolition man aka Alistair Overeem is fresh of great wins especially his destruction of JDS was very impressive. On the other hand Andrei is coming out of loss. A win over Andrei puts Alistair Overeem to fight for the title and what a moment it would be if he is able to capture the belt? If Andrei get defeated by the Reem then Andrei’s heavyweight title dream and run is over. Here in the video I give a detailed opinion on the fight and weigh in their strengths and weakness.


Why is Andrei upset with Alistair Overeem? Well, I think it’s more to do with his fear that he might lose to Alistair Overeem and if that happens then it’s a long road back to the top for Andrei. Another thing is that he might feel disrespected that Alistair Overeem took the fight when both are on the verge of getting a title shot. Andrei is a great fighter and has had great wins and shown great skills and heart in fights; it’s not going to be easy for Alistair Overeem to defeat Andrei Arlovski. One can never count out Andrei’s power. I believe Alistair Overeem has more experience than Andrei in terms of number fights and also the kind of opponents he has faced. I believe Alistair Overeem will win the fight, but hey it’s a fight! Anything can happen in a fight.

I am Too fat and want to lose weight


I am Too fat and want to lose weight that’s the question I am often asked over and over again. Now I share my two cents on how to shed loads of weight and get in shape. Yes getting in shape! Before you run you got to walk and before you walk you got to crawl same thing applies to fitness and getting shape or getting shredded or contest ready.
“Realization is the key” the moment you realize that you are out of shape, unhealthy or fat that’s a start. I say that’s the first step, now once you take the first step keep the ball rolling. Stick to basic and key to success takes two things, consistency and hard work. These two combination is lethal, I have outlined how to go about losing weight and see positive results in body transformation.





First and foremost, thing you have to do is walk, yes walk and walk 6 days a week and walk for 30 minutes a day. Oh I did I mention that has to be on an empty stomach, that’s what you have to do first thing in the morning. It will help massively in weight loss journey or fat loss journey. Cut down consummation of grains and have paleo approach when it comes to diet. Consume more of lean cuts of meat and drink at least a gallon of water a day. Eat more protein and moderate carbs and your fat macros should come from fat content in proteins be it from red meat or chicken. Cut down on dairy and just go on a calorie deficit of say 250 to 400 calories less than your calorie maintenance.

Once you are consistent in your diet with the details I have outlined and walking for a month 6 days a week and 30 minutes a day, you will see weight melting off. Now this is the time you start weight training, stick to basics like bench, deadlifting and squat. Train with weights for 3 days a week which is ample for your fat loss journey. This is what will help you to shed weight and turn your fat body into fit body.

Intermittent Fasting, Benefits and Weight Loss

In this week’s episode I discuss my thoughts on intermittent fasting. How one can use it to build muscle and lean out.  “Experimenting is the key to success” intermittent fasting is not a diet but it’s a pattern of eating. You basically cut short the eating time frame and maintain the same amount of calorie intake as per you goal to shred or bulk. You can eat for 8 hours probably have two or three meals in these 8 hours of feeding and fast for next 16 hours straight.


The beauty of intermittent fasting is in its simplicity. It reduces blood glucose and insulin levels which improves the overall glucose metabolism. It helps build lean muscle mass and helps build strength to a great degree. Lowers blood pressure and oxidative stress, it also allows you to have free mind and brake the pattern of thinking what to think and what to not. It teaches body to adapt to hunger and fasting is fasting how much and how often you eat is left to you and your goals.

Fitness is not rocket science as the media or the fitness industry try’s to portray it. But it’s not simple though, people are always in quest of magic pill to get in shape and let me tell you there is no magic pill for good health, fit body or success. I am not promising this is the answer you are looking for or this will give you 100% fit body without even you putting effort. My training style and my training principle has always been “Intensity”, that’s the key. Weight training or any other form of training without intensity results in poor or no results.
 
 Why do people fail?

Most people get into a training program with lots of expectations and very little effort. Effort and preparation is the most vital factors in getting results from any training program. What I mean by preparation is you have to foresee the hurdles you will face when you’re on a training program be it in terms of schedule or intensity or be it sticking to a very straight diet. Efforts are working your way through pain, lack of focus, there will be days when you don’t feel like training or you may question yourself why I am I doing this? That’s when you put in your effort and drag yourself to the gym and train or run a mile or two.

Another factor what I see is people are not goal oriented they are always bothered about end result. Well let me tell you, you are failing to understand the most important point of all, it’s the daily grind lifting weights or running track or swimming laps and laps you reach your final goal. Always remember “A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step”. The joy of achieving little goals step by step is far more enriching then chanting about the end result. I am not promising you this the best way to train or the only way to train. But it definitely gets results and has given me great results.

Reverse pull-ups

Reverse pull-ups are fun and challenging at the same time. Pull ups are an excellent exercise to build back muscles and if you are able to do higher reps then you can display great definition in your back muscle. The best thing about pull-ups is that it can be done anywhere anytime, its one of the best bodyweight exercises. It’s a best home workout and Home workouts without weights, also can be done in park where pull up bars are available. It’s the most basic exercise one can do and has been doing since childhood whether it’s to reach the cookie jar on the shelf or to build muscle.



The pull up moment should be crisp and fluid without jerking and struggling. Focus on stimulation rather than fast and non focused moment. You need to focus and make sure there is mind and muscle connection.  Pull ups are vital in military workout routine and it’s very famous in cross fit community. Reverse grip pull ups are very good to build that v-taper look and hit primarily latissimus dorsi and biceps as you do it with palms facing forward. One thing about pull ups is that they look very easy but it can be as difficult as it looks.  Try this reverse grip pull ups and build a better chiseled back without going to gym. I would say this one of the Best exercises to build muscle at home, this is on my list of 5 at home exercises.

Dubai new Mecca for bodybuilding

Dubai new Mecca for bodybuilding, yes you heard me right! Dubai is doing really great in promoting bodybuilding. There are many pro bodybuilders from Middle East who is taking world of bodybuilding by storm like big Ramy and Essa Obiad. Everyone knows big Ramy and how much potential he has to be a future Mr. Olympia. There were also few other bodybuilders from the same area but were less know as sport had not grown that much back in the days and there was no media coverage. One such pro was Ali malla.


Considering that this area is rich with money and many of the Pros from the US and Europe goes on "Sponsor" guest posing over to Dubai. It is also believed that many of the Middle Eastern/Arab bodybuilders make more money as amateurs than they would if they turned Pro. The Middle East has always been big on bodybuilding.  You won't hear much about them over in the US but on the international circuit many Middle Eastern bodybuilder are present and dominant.

Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit

Ufc 195- Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit, I see Robbie winning the fight. No suspires there! Robbie has been phenomenal in his past few fights and those were wars. He has great power and skill and looks undefeatable, he has overpowered every opponent in his past and looks like he is going to do the same this time.



Carlos Condit is an excellent fighter who fights to destroy his opponents and put a beating. He has amazing striking and fighting skills and showed in past over and over again. He is coming back from an injury and that can be a concern as to how it’s going affect fight. Over all this is a great fight and I see Robbie winning. UFC 195 card looks awesome and is sure to get interesting fights and entertainment. Let me know your thoughts and opinion on this fight.
